Step onto an ASAS North Texas campus after 3pm, and you’ll find All-Stars engaged in wellness programs, thanks to our partnership with the Aetna Foundation. From Folklorico to step club, from drill team to 5K training, the wide variety of options ensures that every student stays moving after-school.
The Foundation’s support includes nutrition education, from cooking healthy meals to menu planning. Just as importantly, caring coaches running the program foster enthusiasm around the important issue of wellness. Erica Munoz, an 8th grader in the program, said, “Since Coach Tatum is so open about healthy cooking, it makes me happy and [she] encourages me to be healthy.”
“Good nutrition and physical exercise not only form the building blocks for a lifetime of good health, they are also critical factors in helping children be ready to learn,” said Garth Graham, M.D., MPH, president of the, Aetna Foundation. “We are proud to support your work to help kids develop healthy habits, lead healthier lives, and to strengthen this important link.”
Thank you to the Aetna Foundation for helping our kids stay healthy and fit!
