ASAS is thrilled to announce the opening of ASAS Tampa Bay, launched with generous support from the New York Life Foundation and in partnership with the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation. The New York Life Foundation has partnered with ASAS on a $4 million, three-year grant to expand ASAS programs to six cities, including Tampa Bay.
“The New York Life Foundation is proud to support the expansion of ASAS into Tampa Bay because their programing, which combines academics, enrichment activities and healthy living, has a proven track record of significantly improving student achievement” said Marlyn Torres, Senior Program Officer, New York Life Foundation. “We believe that high-quality after-school programs work and that they can be particularly valuable to middle school age students. Nothing proves this point better than the fact that 99% of After-School All-Star’s “We Are Ready” students were promoted on time to ninth grade. Moreover, ASAS engages kids in constructive activities during the after-school hours of 3-6pm, a time when most parents are still working and youth crime and experimentation with risky behaviors dramatically increases.”
“Thanks to the New York Life Foundation, the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation and Hillsborough County School District, our world-class programs will now serve Tampa Bay students,” said Ben Paul, President and CEO of ASAS.
Our tremendous thanks to these incredible partners for helping Tampa Bay students succeed in school and in life!
